09/10: This month Air Guitar will be exhibited in Poland as part of Lodz Biennale in the exhibition Inner Focus opening 09/09. 08/10: A cassette titled Hysteresis containing two pieces made using the SSCD_6.2 will be released in September on US tape label Gifts Nobody Wants in an edition of 100. I will have copies available shortly, if you want to reserve one then drop me a line. 06/10: On Friday July 2nd I will be performing at Modern Art Oxford as part of their ongoing programme of Live Fridays. 05/10: Two gigs this month, the first at the Quadraphonic Night at the Cube in Bristol on May 15th and then at Cafe Oto as part of a sound excursion from Phyllida Barlow's two person show at the Serpentine on May 28th. 04/10: Forthcoming gigs: on April 17th Samuel Rodgers & I play St. Mark's Church in Islington. On 25th April I am back in London, at Area 10 in Peckham as part of noise=noise. On the 1st May I will be performing a new solo commission for nine pianos at Central Reservation in Bristol as part of Wouldn't a title just make it worse? Also last week Hugo Verweij from Everday Listening asked me Five Sound Questions 03/10: This week I'm off to Berlin, where I will be performing a new piece for the SSCD_6.2 as part of Incounter at .HBC in Berlin as well as installing two of the Works for Turntable as part of a group show called Tipping Points. Turned Moment, weighting continues to gather very positive write-ups in the blogosphere. 02/10: On Saturday February 20th I will be playing at Whippit in York at Space 109. Between the 25th and 27th Works for Turntable will be installed at Oxford Brookes as part of Sonic Art Oxford, at which Jos Zwaanenburg will also be performing a composition of mine for flute, piano and delay system. 01/10: There's a very complimentary review of Turned Moment, weighting in next month's issue of The Wire. Samuel and I are currently schemeing a little sister release to accompany it. 12/09: Next month will see the release of my duo disc with Samuel Rodgers Turned Moment, weighting on Another Timbre. We will be playing an album launch gig at Cafe Oto on January 21st. Simon Reynell also asked us some questions. 11/09: On Saturday 28th November I will be performing at InCounter at Campbell Works in Stoke Newington, alongside Tone Poem, Richard Wilson & Anne Bean and many others. 10/09: An interview conducted by Mark Sheerin has been published on the Saatchi Gallery Art & Music Blog. Next month I begin a 2 year Research Fellowship at the Sound Art Research Unit of Oxford Brookes University. 09/09: On Friday September 18th I will be in Bristol supporting Francisco Lopez as part of Arnolfini's All Around You season. The next night I will be back in Brighton to do a collaborative piece with Brighton improvisor Daniel Jones. Works for Turntable is open Thursday-Sunday until September 20th, here's a review. 08/09: Works for Turntable, an installation of eight amplified kinetic sculptures for used record players opens at Brighton's Permanent Gallery on the 21st August. We are publishing a 7" record to accompany the exhibition, which is at the pressing plant now. 07/09: Clusterfuck is open until the end of the month, at which point I will be performing on twoconsecutive nights at Hackney Wicked festival. On Friday 31st as part of Whippit, and on Saturday 1st Human Separation will be playing at InCounter. Both events are behind the Counter Cafe on Roach Road. 06/09: I have been commisioned by Nomad to make a piece as part of Clusterfuck. The show opens on Thursday 16/07 in the evening, and there is talk of Human Separation performing on that evening (tbc): more to see on the current page. I've uploaded an excerpt of the recording from ArtEx Sonora here. 05/09: There's been something of a flurry of publicity of late: R. William Barry has written an interview/review of Three Piece on his blog, Al Jones has done a nice write up of my work at Bagatellen, and there are short pieces about the trespassing project in both the Big Issue and Dazed and Confused. I am giving a talk about the project at The Nunnery, Bow on June 6th. 04/09: Next month I will be performing in Spain at the ArtEx Sonora festival, held at MACUF in La Coruna. I am currently building mark II of my cassette delay system especially for the event. I will be giving a short presentation about the hows and whys of the machine as part of Interesting Sounds at the Arnolfini on Sunday 26th April. 03/09: Things are looking a bit different around here, I've overhauled the site completely, and added a fair bit of new content along the way. The electroacoustic piano work has been separated from the sculptural works, and all of the 'bumf' consolidated into the info page. 02/09: This month's mayhem is almost done, just the solo piano gig on the 27th at Bath's ICIA to go. I will be discussing Three Piece with Mark Jackson at the gallery this Friday 20th from 3pm, entry is ofcourse free. You can read a review of the show here. I've also just inaugurated the Sculpture Recordings label with 3 cdrs of my own work, more details of the label page. Please drop me an email if you'd like to order something. 01/09: Here's the lowdown on the February feeding frenzy: Tuning Up a collaboration with Bill Leslie will be performed at the BAC's New Year, New Sounds festival in London on the evening of Wednesday 4th February, and then again at Bristol's Arnolfini on Saturday 7th February at 2pm. My first solo show, Three Piece, opens at Elevator Gallery on February 12th. That evening will include performances by Patrick Farmer and Rob Gawthrop. Finally, on Friday 27th February I will be performing a solo improvisation for feedback piano at Bath's ICIA as an opener for a concert of John Ffitch's tapeworks. 12/08: Video documentation of recently completed sound sculpture Three Piece is now here. And I've uploaded the full length mp3 of the latest Vleugel performance here. 11/08: I've just arrived in Hannover to install Air Guitar at Kunsthalle Faust. 10/08: I am giving a brief talk about the trespassing project at Cafe Oto, Dalston on the 26th as part of Salon de Refuses Olympic. There is a review of my recent piano performance Vleugel here. 10/08: Just returned from a disastrous excursion to the Mediations Biennale in Poland: NEVER USE DHL. I now start work on a new collaboration with choreographer Marina de Quay which will take us to Lisbon at the end of the month. 07/08: There's a review of the last Human Separation gig here. Last month I exhibited a sculptural work in a show called Cases of Curiosity. Going to Frankfurt next week: I will be performing a live tape-delay piece at Atelier Rafi, and then again at London's Elevator Gallery on August 1st. |
